Speeds dipping down to 0

Post by run4w4yb4y »

Brand new to Usenet. Got myself set up with an indexer and a provider and am using sab for a download client. I've been trying this all day and I've managed to download some things, but often the speed would start out around 20mb/s then slowly dwindle down, sometimes sitting around 3mb/s, then eventually slowly going all the way to 0. At some point later it might start itself back up again and slowly climb then go back to zero and sit for a long time.

It seems like something is throttling me and I don't know what. I switched my SSL port to 443 in case the 563 one was being throttled by my ISP. Typically my internet gets 400-500mb/s downloads.

I have gotten different error messages, and many copies of each, these being the ones most commonly seen
Failed to connect: [WinError 10013] An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions [email protected].***:443
Failed to connect: [WinError 10060] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond [email protected].***:443
On both of these the number before the @ changes regularly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should also add, it seems to tank my whole computer's internet speed as well. Even after shutting down all of the services related to the nzb process, my speed is way down. A restart brings it back up to standard.

wifi, system is running Windows 10. What other specs would be helpful or relevant?

wifi ... bad. Connect wire.

Lower the number of newsserver connections to ... 10, and try again.

And system specs:

Whiles SABnzbd is not doing anything :

In SABnzbd's upper right corner, click on the wrench symbol ("Status and interface options"), then click on first tab Status, and there click on the Refresh Arrow. Post the values of the lower part here.

... that will be something like

System performance (Pystone) 187717 Common KVM processor SSE2
Download folder speed 213.4 MB/s /home/sander/Downloads/incomplete
Complete folder speed 250.4 MB/s /home/sander/Downloads/complete
Internet Bandwidth 100 MB/s 800 Mbps
Platform kvm

I can move the whole setup to the media server computer that's wired. I was just trying to get it figured out on this one that's on wifi first. I won't be able to install on the other system until later tonight.

I've had connections at 8, then upped it to 20 per another thread. Both had similar failures.

System performance (Pystone) 402327 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790S CPU @ 3.20GHz AVX2
Download folder speed 337.6 MB/s C:\Users\Downloads\incomplete
Complete folder speed 312.6 MB/s C:\Users\Downloads\complete
Internet Bandwidth 22.23 MB/s 177.84 Mbps

I'm also realizing that this computer has the worst speedtest results, capping around 200mbps vs other computers getting more like 400-500. Even so it shouldn't be crashing down to 0bps.

Nice computer.

So I suspect your wifi: your wifi itself, and your wifi access point / router. The newsserver traffic is heavy stuff, and thus wifi / routers might fail.

sounds good. I'll do an install on the wired server computer tonight and see if that solves it all.

Thanks for your help!
