Sabnzbd 0.5.0.alpha2 "Blocked server" bug??

Post by Tijlbert »

Hi I am recently having a few problems....

I use 3 nntp-servers.. Let's say A, B and C (A being the first added, b the second etc.)
When just starting the program it all works. After a while; server B or server C or both will stop working and go on 'blocked'.. After this it will start todo weird things....When I restart sabnzbd things are normal again for a while.

This is the output...notice the amount of servers listed here (I only have 3)....

Server A (xenosite) never has an error. Me thinks this is because it's the first server added.

The boys down at the xsnews.nl forum (in dutch) seem to think that it's timing related  (whatever that means; they suggested thinkering with the timeout, but 120 sec or 30 sec doesn't make a difference). Also I've seen this behaviour on 0.4.7 happening. Could the python version used invluence this? (python v25 - 2520 (something like that) is used) I'm installing v25 -2541 right now to try to fix things)..... EDIT: Sabnzbd is now running on python 25-2.5.4.1 with the same result... But now i get this: 2009-05-06 16:05:17,832 ERROR Failed login for server reader.xsnews.nl:119 (a moment ago it was 'timed out' )...

Hope anybody can read thru my ramlings, and get down to the core.... grz. Tijlbert

I am running freenas v7;

We see some odd behaviour on Unix systems, we're still investigating.
On Windows everything works normal.

I discovered that when I moved my /usr dir to a partition with more space (and making a link), this problem was gone on my system. So it might have been an error caused by having too little diskspace in it's executing envirement (the appointed /tmp folder had enough space tho)

im getting this problem alot, mainly when im trying to download binary files that are older than 140 days. has anyone got a solution apart from downgrading to sabnzbd 0.4?

im running sabnzbd on os x and theres plenty of disk space available, over 90 GB so i dont think its a problem of free space.

Do you also get timeout messages for the server?
Have you set the the server as "Optional", if so it will be locked out for 10 minutes when it
causes lots of timeouts or other errors.

Some servers are very slow to respond to missing articles or they need
a lot of time to get a old articles.
It's important to set the server timeout to a fairly high value,
most providers recommend between 60 and 120 seconds.
I'd go for 120.

i've got the timeout's set as the default 120 seconds. i've unchecked the 'optional' setting on the server, hopefully it will work. i dont get any errors or warnings at all.

i have another problem where some reports download and others dont its rather strange, my friend who is also using sabnzbd and giganews is able to download the same reports that just dont work or even start for me.

Is your friend using the same version of SABnzbd and on the same OS?
Which OS are you using?
Email some of the suspected NZB files to [email protected].

There are a number of articles missing, but otherwise what you sent, downloads fine on Windows and Ubuntu.
Looks like an OSX specific problem, or specific to your system.
I'll pass on the info to our OSX supporter.
There's nothing new in 0.5.0 that has to do with article age.

BTW: if the server gets "blocked", does it get unblocked after 10 minutes?

No they werent the servers that were being marked as blocked, were constantly kept as blocked until i restarted sabnzbd or updated the server settings. but after i removed the 'optional' flag it no longer happens.

not sure why i cant download the nzb's though, i get no errors in sabnzbd it just skips it from the queue and downloads other things!

another problem with the latest sabnzbd, sometimes the pause button doesnt actually work! i hit pause (using the plush theme), the button turns red but the usenet connections stay open and continue downloading, when i try a few more times afterwards it pauses.

Do you have a high refresh rate set?
I think this may cause button clicks to be missed.

i've got it set to 30 seconds so i dont think that is the issue unless its refreshing just as i hit pause.
