For some reason i download slower than using newsbin

I got a giganews account, the  diamond one.
Usually i use 10 connections in Newsbin ang get 4,5MB

But for some reason sabnzbd cant get that high-it downloads at a 3MB rate using the same 10 connections.
ANy ideas what might be the problem?
I have to increase to 15+ connections to get download rate like newsbin got

SABnzbd is written in Python, which isn't the most efficient language as runtime speed is concerned.
(It does save us a lot of development time).
