Still having RSS problems (with 4.0 Beta 2 this time).

Post by ferno »

Hi,

Like described in the large email (screenshots) I sent to [email protected] the RSS feature of sabnzbd is still not working for me.
Like i described in the email it seems to save the rss link but crashes when adding the filter.
The odd thing is if I fiddle with the browser back button i actually get it to work. :(

Anyway,

Hopefully you have some time to look at my email and find something (hopefully a stupid mistake from my part ;) ).

Last question is regarding the behavior of the entry when successfully saved, will this entry poll the rss feed on a schedule or something alike?
I aspect that when entered this entry will poll the rss feed continuously for updates and feeds until disabled, I have read the wiki but could not find anything about it and since the feature crashes on me I can’t find out for myself. :)

Like before RSS is scheduled.
The schedule rate can be set on the config->general page
(yes, I know: makes  no sense, but that's where it was before).

But you will also need to click Start/Download on the RSS-page.
On creation and any change, the RSS feed scanning will be stopped (per feed).
You have to enable it manually. This is to prevent the scheduler from bursting in while you
were still refining your filters.
After that it runs automatically.

Hi,

Thanx for the explanation.
Now that you mention it I recall seeing something familiar in the old sabnzbd.ini

The start download button is were my problems start.
When I hit it, I get the error 500.

The logs screenshots and sabnzbd.ini have been emaild to [email protected].

Hopefully you find something.

Thank you for you effort!

Hi,

This is solved noe.

It had to do with an old Cheetah version.

I was running Cheetah 1.0.something and you need to run at least 2.0.7 ( I believe).

Installing the latest version of Cheetah solved all RSS problems.

This thread can be locked.

From a shell prompt:

Code: Select all

python
   import feedparser
   d = feedparser.parse("YOUR URL")
   print d
If you get error messages here, it's some problem with the feedparser and your python and/or platform.

Thanks for your quick reply

I could not get the script to work.
So I will try to upgrade to python 2.5
(Maybe erase everything and start from scratch)

Is there any news regarding the newzbin bookmark feature?

Then I could use this instead.

Best regards

Please complain to newzbin about the (missing) bookmark feature.
Maybe it will help.

RSS feeds of newzbin "searches" work fine, the RSS feed for bookmarks does not.

I must investigate this further.

Newzbin's Bookmarks RSS-file cannot be properly handled by the Feedparser module.
It probably violates the RSS standards that Feedparser supports.

Given that bookmarks should be supported by newzbin in their new API,
I will spend no more time on this.

If someone can find out what the non-compliance is in either newzbin's feed or
Feedparser's implementation, please report to the proper party.
