OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Guys,
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Heres the situation....
Im using SabNZBd 0.5.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.3 and the menu bar icon in the top right menu bar by the clock will randomly decide at its own discretion to cease to exist.
If I remove SabNZBd completely and wipe the application data and other related files, and then reinstall it solves the problem for a few days, but then it vanishes again. This happened on 0.5.0 also, any help with sorting this and saving me the need in keep reinstalling would be great!

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Hi,
I never had this issue.
Could you give me steps to reproduce the problem ?
Are you using a language other than english ?

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Standard OS X build, and fully updated with mac updates, running UK english.
Crossing my fingers at the moment, seems that it hasn't disappeared just yet.
The problem only occurs when the program is shut down and then restarted. Once the icon vanishes it is gone for good, coming to think of it, i cant see it being a problem with the app data as when it happened last time and i replaced the app with the beta the problem fixed itself.
Will keep you updated when and if it disappears again and i will let you know steps that lead to cause it!

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
I have this problem too. Latest OS X build. When the menu bar was added to SABnzbd+ it worked for a few runs of the application, then disappeared. When I updated to the latest version, 0.5.2, it reappeared again for a few runs, and then disappeared. I can't reproduce this problem because I've found no way of getting the icon back.
I can confirm that neither
~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/notDisplayMenu
or
~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/notDisplaySpeed
is present on my system.
Also, regarding comments in this thread, my menu bar problems are not related to the OS X 10.6.4 update as they started long before it was released.

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Hi guys, was just wondering if there is any word on a fix for this bug yet? I seem to be getting the issue as well. It only seems to happen when I restart my computer.
Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
I have this same problem running Mac OSX 10.6.4.
I have tried to remove ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd but no luck.
The icon in the menu bar does not return, this does removes all settings and when the app is started the setup wizard is shown.
I can't tell what could cause this, it was working for me yesterday and now the next morning its gone. As I recall I made no changes whatsoever to my macbook.
**EDIT**
After reinstalling the app the menu button reappears, no wizard showing on startup.

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
I can also confirm that removing ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd does not work, but reinstalling SABnzbd.app fixes the problem (I reinstalled version 0.5.2 - I haven't upgraded to 0.5.3 yet).
Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Hi guys,
Very strange issue. I don't see why reinstalling app could fix the issue.
If you get the issue again, could you please send me your SABnzbd.app zipped ? To see if anything is different...

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
mike_ sent me his sabnzbd.app.
Thanks !
I've compared content of his archive with my sabnzbd.app.
Two files are missing from his app. When I add the two files menu works again.
The 2 files missing are :
/Applications/SABnzbd.app/Contents/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6/pyconfig.h
/Applications/SABnzbd.app/Contents/Resources/include/python2.6/pyconfig.h
I don't know why theses files are missing from his app... very strange. I'm digging...

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Hi,
rAf just mentioned about maintenance utilities in a PM. CleanMyMac identifies two files from SABnzbd.app as "development junk" and after running the utility, the menu bar icon vanishes. This is definitely the cause.
May I suggest that everyone here who has this problem and uses CleanMyMac should add SABnzbd.app to their ignore list and use the ignore list sharing feature of CleanMyMac. Hopefully if it ends up on the list this won't be an issue for future users.

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
hmmm, reminds me of the shitty virus scanners on Windows that like to remove sqlite3.dll
So even the OSX world is not immune to overzealous cleaners and "security" types
Is someone going to complain to the developers of CleanMyMac?
Maybe we should sue them for wantonly destroying our software?
These guys have quite a nerve: this is what they answer when someone complains about
them damaging Abobe CSS:
First they damage CSS, then let people figure out for themselves why their expensive CSS stops working,
only to give them this "advise".

Why do people accept such an attitude? Please just try adding CS5 to the Ignore List of CleanMyMac. The Ignore List button is in the info-tab of the Universal Binaries module.

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
I've posted a message on CleanMyMac support forum.
Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
Nice, wanted to see if you guys came along the same thing I did. I also just found out that the app CleanMyMac cleans out to much from SABNZB.
Indeed they have some nerve screwing up so much and even after complaints about widely used apps like Adobe CS5 they just make up a Q and A with a silly solution to just ignore it in the app itself. LOL

Re: OS X Menu Bar Icon Problem
I hate to post on such an old thread, but what's the easiest route to fix this. I have since added sabnzbd to the ignore list in CleanMyMac. I have a lot of settings in place within sabnzbd which I don't want to loose.
Thanks for your help!
