Downloads break down near completion

Post by Fitzwilliam »

Hi all.  Ever since I upgraded to 0.5.4 (Mac OS 10.6.4 app, Chrome 6.0.472.62), downloads slow down to a near stop right at the end.  I normally get ~ 1 MB/s DL speed, but right at the end, usually less than 1% or left, it drops to less than 1 KB/s, sometimes as far as 3 B/s.  This issue wasn't present in 0.5.3, and I'm using the same sites (nzbs.org, newzleech.com) that I used before.  The issue occurs with both popular and obscure, young and old files.  I would appreciate any help.

You're not downloading the same NZB every time, I assume.
Therefor it's hard to tell what the exact cause is.
You can try to downgrade  to 0.5.3 and should that solves the issue,
you might have found a problem with SABnzbd.

I have also noticed this, but I have always assumed it's an issue with the usenet provider, rather than the application.

I've tried downloading a few different files from different sites, and the issue always crops up.  Forgive me, but how do I downgrade to 0.5.3?  That was the first thing I thought to do, but I couldn't find an old versions area on the site.  Perhaps it is a side effect of trying to troubleshoot on pain medication :).

Just download the old version from SourceForge and install it again.

I have the same problem. It does not always occur.

What I did to make those nzbs resume again: paused the queue, disabled a server that didn't work at that moment and restarted SABnzbd. All the next items in queue eventually downloaded fine.

I saw these kind of warnings:

Do you have multiple servers (like a main server and a backup)?

I only have enabled/disabled and/or optional servers. No backup servers.

I thought it might have been the potential deadlock with a backup refusing
to tell that it doesn't have an article.
That cannot be the case here,
I don't have a solution now. You can try a downgrade to 0.5.3.
The other poster suspected his upgrade.

Something very strange there, why does the log show the wrong msg-id?

An article with that msg-id does not exist on Usenet.

This article does exist, though badly formed (truncated) and must be repaired.

SABnzbd does what the NZB file tells it to do.
Check the NZB file.
