log download speed

Post by doubledrat »

on finishing each file, would it be possible to write to the log the average download speed of that file?

That's actually a nice idea -- I think other apps like NINAN or Hella do this.

my motivation, is that I'm sure my ISP is traffic shaping me and I'd like to be able to pull the average download data over a long period.

it would therefore be really good if wherever it's written it's also in a format that's easy to pull out with a search and then stick the data into excel to graph it.

The absence of download speed information is in fact the only thing I was surprised of. Like others, I’d like to see the download performance of each download, repair and extract.

How would you like it formatted?

Code: Select all

Stage Download
[Time]: Completed download in 1 minute(s)
[Avg Speed]: At an average speed of 300kB/s
or

Code: Select all

Stage Download
[Downloaded]: Completed download in 1 minute(s) at an average speed of 300kB/s
or

Code: Select all

Stage Download
    [Time-Taken]: 1 minute(s)
    [Avg-Speed]: 300kB/s
or other.

at the risk of stating the obvious, we'd need a timestamp too.  so, the last option + [Time]?

Sorry but timestamp for what?
Only think I can think of time stamping is the time it was completed, which is already shown in it's own column.

I get ya (duh!) - every line is timestamped.  I did say it was stating the obvious ;)

hi.

did this feature make it into 0.4?  or is it for a later release?

ta

PS it would be nice to have a sticky list of future features in this thread, it would stop people asking more than once for the same thing.  perhaps even a combined existing features + future features?
