http proxy

Post by razorhail »

hi,
I live in an university dorm and I'm stuck behind a http-proxy

there have been other threads in this forum about http-proxies, but I'm not talking about downloading the nzb-files over the proxy - I'm talking about routing all the traffic through a proxy server....

is it possible to have sab with proxy-support??

up until now I used an application for Windows called "ProxyCap", which just reroutes connections of specific programs through a http/socks proxy

but now I'm removing windows from my server to replace it with debian.
Up until now I haven't found any ProxyCap alternatives for linux.....

does anybody know a way to set up sab to reroute through a proxy? or how one would generally do something like that on a linux machine?

I've heard the term "iptables" been thrown around by an acquaintance ....and I've done a little digging upon that....unfortunately it's over my head...
is anybody familiar with that topic? and, does that even apply in my situation?

I'd appreciate your help

http://linux.die.net/man/1/socksify

Would likely be the easiest way. Im not sure if sabnzbd listens to other environment variables ?
