hi all
i have just tried to download a 100gb file, and while they all came down, i got some errors about bee out of my providers retention, and all the archives were corrupt. o i tried getting the par2 files in another program, and they downloaded fine. but i am still hort of repair blocks to put my archive back together. how coan i go about contacting the uploader of the files in order to get more parity files? or does it not work like that.
i have been waiting 5 days and dont want to have to waste another 100gb and 5 days on this.

Re: needing more par 2 files
SAB 0.7.x has a pre-download checker which will try to predict if the download is available enough to avoid situations like you describe
See Config -> Switched, and the the option "Check before download"

Re: needing more par 2 files
In general, you cannot; a poster is anonymous.
But as you say you could download the pars with another program (" i tried getting the par2 files in another program, and they downloaded fine"), I can only conclude the pars are already available

Re: needing more par 2 files
yes, i have downloaded the par files, but there still isnt enough repair blocks to repair the archive.
Re: needing more par 2 files
Then I must have misunderstood your post.jbates58 wrote:yes, i have downloaded the par files, but there still isnt enough repair blocks to repair the archive.
Anyway: then you're out of luck with your newsserver.
Oh: If the NZB post was DMCA-ed (is it a popular, recent post?) and partially deleted, then you could try to use a another, non-US server as backup. However, that's a long shot for a beginner.
Re: needing more par 2 files
no its about 250days old. can i find out it it is DCMA-ed? and it was from an eu server. i will try a us one though, as my provider has both.
Re: needing more par 2 files
well using the us one didnt help. would trying a different provider work? or are they all linked back to the came server farm?
Re: needing more par 2 files
If you PM / DM me the NZB or a link to a NZB, I can do the pre-check on my Dutch newsserver. As I have no 2*100GB harddisk space available, I can't do the actual download.jbates58 wrote:well using the us one didnt help. would trying a different provider work? or are they all linked back to the came server farm?
Re: needing more par 2 files
Based on your PM, I downloaded B.E .s01e1 ... Pre-check said some 86 articles were missing, but went on, so apparantly SAB computed that was not too bad.
However the download failed, saying "97 articles were missing".
Oh and "The recovery file does not exist: /home/sander/.ouse.par2". Checking the temp directory, there is no par2 at all. I don't know what that means.

Re: needing more par 2 files
Try a block account or free account. There are a few free ones which have GB limits/month but they work great for fill servers.
