I'm having a similar problem. Most times it doesn't work, except for two-to-three seconds of about 3k/s speed every few minutes. Certainly not enough to download anything.

Are you by chance using a Hurricane Electric tunnel for your IPv6 connectivity? That's what I've been using on my end. I'm thinking there may be some traffic shaping going there now. I'm going to try making a new tunnel with a European endpoint in case that fixes it (and also to get closer to both weathergirl and newszilla6), but failing that I'm going to try for an account with SixXS; their documentation says they don't mind NNTP traffic and actively encourage its use.

EDIT: On another note, 91.223.220.236 has been up and down a lot lately. I find that it sometimes is available for most of a day, but can be gone for days too. I check periodically throughout to see if it pops up again. Don't write it off completely, but don't depend on it either.

Changing my tunnel endpoint seems to have done the trick. I switched from a Fremont, CA based endpoint to one in Amsterdam and I was able to connect to both weathergirl and newszilla6 again. Unfortunately the files I was going after are all past the retention level of either server, but at least it told me that instead of stalling forever.

EDIT: Actually, it seems I spoke too soon. Connection speed to newszilla6 has dropped to an absolute standstill, and it looks like weathergirl is returning "article not found" for anything I try to grab, things as little as 3 days old. Both are completely unusable. I'll try to experiment with other IPv6 tunnel methods and see if they become useable.

Yes, finding the same thing here. The only server that seems to have a retention of more than a week is free.tweaknews.nl but as that only downloads at 1Mb then makes it really slow compared to the 130Mb I normally get. Not entirely sure I am not getting anything older than week from the Ipv6 servers

Just wanted to make a note that I had to change teredo servers under windows 7 today, made the difference between working and not working.
I don't know whether microsoft teredo was broken, taken down, or port blocked or something else, but switching off of it fixed it for me.

Where are you located? I'm guessing somewhere in Europe. Stateside tweaknews' free server literally does not respond to pings. May have a VPN workaround to it though, but I need to know what is considered "in range" to know where to set my endpoint.

I've been trying to get teredo to work on my machine but it reallllly doesn't want to. I finally gave up and went back to using my Hurricane Electric tunnel. I'll have to start the process of getting a Sixxs account, though it would be nice to hear from someone who has one if they can get to either of the free ipv6 servers.

There's been some speculation that that server may be up to no good and using user traffic to obfuscate evil doings. I don't know whether that's credible or not, but it was enough for me to not try it out. (It was originally posted on reddit)

A note for Windows teredo/ipv6 users, I reinstalled to new windows 8.1 installation, and found that teredo was again broken until I changed the teredo server to another one I googled. Here's how:

netsh
interface teredo
show state
set state servername=(other server name obtained from google)
