Sorry thats what I meant I hadnt realised I hadn't added non-free I will do that now I havent installed unrar at all yet because of the mess I made last time.

Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1:3.9.10-1
Version table:
1:3.9.10-1 0
500 http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze/non-free amd64 Packages

I'm assuming I don't want to be installing unrar 1:3.9.10-1 or am I wrong.

Actually, that's exactly what you want to do. And after that probably restart sab.

thanks unrar is installed now I got this when installing, I'm sorry about all the questions its just I really want to get it right this time,

update-alternatives: using /usr/bin/unrar-nonfree to provide /usr/bin/unrar (unrar) in auto mode.

should that be it I now

root@server:/# unrar

Sorry to double post again but the message as now gone recommending another version of unrar etc, thanks a lot for your help I'm made up.
I was under the impression that this version of unrar was the wrong one I thought I needed at least 4.13 > I'm trying to test it now but my internet connection is terrible at the moment and hasn't been the best since September, Since Friday it's the worst I have ever had it I'm downloading at 20 - 200 KB/s on a 30mb connection but I'm confident this is it thanks again jcfp & shypike its really appreciated and I'm sorry to put you through all this lol.
