211 n f l s group selected
(n = estimated number of articles in group,
f = first article number in the group,
l = last article number in the group,
s = name of the group.)
So ... not too useful numbers in my overview. You can ignore it.
Question: if SABnzbd would determine the retention and completeness of the servers you use, would you allow SABnzbd to anonymously share those numbers to a central database? If so, and more people would do that, combined it would give a complete overview of Retention, Completeness and DMCA-removals of all servers in the world.
I would absolutely allow sab to anonymously share server statistics like that. Thanks for the explanation. I was hoping I could do something like compare article #'s either between the same server, (total #) or between servers (last vs last?) and get an idea but maybe that was just a pipe dream.
Anyways thanks for the education.
Not likely to happen.
Besides, retention times are not absolute.
Servers start deleting older posts when their storage becomes full, it's not truly time-driven.
Also their deletion order is not strictly based on time order.
Anybody else who can't reach free.tweaknews.nl? Appelboor lists it as working, but I can't reach it by client, by ping or traceroute (timeout-error).
Is it limited to dutch users?

i guess they allow only direct peering connections and not transit as that costs more to them. Using a proxy might work, but sab doesnt support that directly, with proxifier it’s fine tho.
Thanks for your reply sander.
I'm using correctly free.xsusenet.com, the only usenet server that I can use for free (but only 10 day retention) and it works fine, if with sabnzbd I try to test server I obtain ever "connection successful!" Some days ago I could use also news.just4today.net but seems dead now So it works. But with free.tweaknews.nl and news.readfreenews.net I obtain ever connection timed out. I've tried with ports 80, 81, 23, 119 with SSL and without SSL, nothing to do.
They works for you?

ping news.readfreenews.net works for me also.... all packets are transmitted and received nothing loss, very strange.
Is this the right configuration in sabnzbd?
