Hi,
New to usenet and sabnzbd
ok problem is I have an internode connection that should come with an usenet account/access

I get this
2012-04-04 00:12:28,963 ERROR: Cannot connect to server news.internode.on.net:119 [400 Cannot connect to NNTP server 216.151.153.65 (216.151.153.65:563), connect error 10061

can any one help me with this ?

I can ping the news.internode.on.net and get a reply

I am running windows 7
Windows firewall
Fritz box 7390

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I can access that server, although the connection is disconnected (see below). The message in SAB is "502 news.astraweb.com: Access Denied", so not your error message.

What if you add as server "newszilla.xs4all.nl": what is the result of that?

Code: Select all

sander@R540:~$ telnet news.internode.on.net 119
Trying 207.246.207.22...
Connected to news.internode.on.net.
Escape character is '^]'.
help
502 news.astraweb.com: Access Denied
Connection closed by foreign host.

yeah it times out
Also something to note when I have more then 10 connections in the options bar it asks for a password for the internode connection and I am pretty sure I don't need a password

If also "newszilla.xs4all.nl" times out, it's probably your firewall blocking outgoing sessions. So, what happens when you temporarily turn off your firewall?

10 connections? Better to have it on 5 connections, to avoid problems from that high number.

Internode doesn't require a username or password to access their news server. Though it can only be accessed by Internode customers. I had this same problem. Leave your username and password fields blank in SABnzbd.

Your SABnzbd config for Internode should look like this... Maybe with 8 connections though. I haven't had any trouble with 10 personally.

I have that set up exactly like that
and I get this from a server test :

400 Cannot connect to NNTP server 216.151.153.22 (216.151.153.22:563), connect error 10061

My mate who comes over and uses his computer can get it all set up with grabit fine I couldn't so tried SABnzbd...........

Its my mates internet at my house cause he moved into new house with net all ready there and I took his contract cause I needed it....... and he comes over and uses his old connection and it works fine ?
he uses my router on Wifi to connect I have the cable to the router

In my first reply, I said "What if you add as server "newszilla.xs4all.nl": what is the result of that?"". Have you done that?
Or, what happens when you use "news.kpn.nl" (a bit easier to type) as newsserver?

If that also gives a timeout (10061), the problem is on your local setup (for example: the firewall on your computer), not with the newsserver.

Sorry I tried newszilla and news.kpn and I get the timeout.....
I have added SABnzbd in the firewall and allowed incoming traffic

That proofs the problem is not with internode. As your friend can use your Internet connection to connect with internode (right?), the conclusion must be the problem is on your PC. I can only think of your PC's firewall blocking outgoing connections (SAB does not need ingoing connections to download stuff).

So, temporarily turn off or de-install your firewall, and then try again.

I used sabnzbd on my synology NAS with internode for the last few months, about 4 weeks ago it stopped working , I get failed to log in messages. But GrabIt on the desktop PC works fine. There has been a change somewhere recently that has broken it....It was work working so well.

What changed? Did you upgrade SABnzbd?

I'm still trying to work it out, I upgraded sabnzbd a little while ago but I don't think it coincided with the issue. But maybe I will try going back. I was running sabnzbd-0.6.6-1.spk and I think I auto updated. I'll try doing back.
