I got this error after updating. I'm not positive it is sabnzbd causing it since I updated from the ppa and did system updates before this.

sander@buckle:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/sabnzbdplus start
* Starting SABnzbd+ binary newsgrabber
** (sabnzbdplus:5069): WARNING **: Command line `dbus-launch --autolaunch=7d752e6982d78d1e9f85444e4bc3452a --binary-syntax --close-stderr' exited with non-zero exit status 1: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.\n

Which SAB version are you using?

So SABnzbd is not running after that command? Check with "ps -ef | grep -i sabnzbd".

Can you run SAB from the commmand line by typing "sabnzbdplus" and post the output here?
