hi all,

I changed from Thundernews to FastUsenet and now the pre download "checking" phase seems to take a lot longer,

1) is this normal?
2) Why does it happen?
3) Is there anything I can do to help it go faster?

The response to "presence queries" can be different over providers.
Unless you're you have very tight downloads caps: don't use pre-download check.
Instead use "abort if download cannot be completed".
This works better for the majority of posts that cannot be completed.
Most of the time, posts are (almost) fully removed.

I didn't even know i had that option enabled, must have been default

I disabled it, and already had the Abort if.....option you mentioned, so thanks for your help!
