Upgraded SAB: Socket errors

Post by cditty »

I recently upgraded from the previous version of SAB to the current version on my Ubuntu server and now I am having all types of issues. Hopefully someone here can help.

Everything was working fine on my box. Shows being updated and downloaded normally. After the upgrade, my sickbeard started giving me socket errors and shows weren't being downloaded anymore. I verified that SAB was running and was accessible via the web browser(local and internet). Everything looked fine. When I tried sending shows from Sickbeard to SAB, it would result in an error. I uninstalled SAB completely, removed the directories in my home directory and then reinstalled. No different. I tried changing the port from 8080 to 8082. That helped a little bit. I am now able to get shows, but it will grab the same show multiple times and still give a Socket Error in the Sickbeard log file.

One thing that I did notice was that it seems to take SAB a long time to respond when I am pulling it up on the local machine. So much so, that while the browser is waiting, if I try to send a file from Sickbeard, I get an error.

I am at a complete loss for this. Everything was working fine before I upgraded to now it barely works. Am I the only one having issues? Any suggestions on how/what to do to fix it?

Thanks

Oh, forgot to say, these were installed via the apt-get method on Ubuntu 12.04 server.

Anyone? Going through SAB and removing 100s of duplicate nzb downloads is a pain. I can't leave it running because it will chew up my download quota.

Does downgrading to the previous version help?

(debug) logging showing the actual errors would be nice too, just "socket error" is rather generic.

Sad to say that I am not sure how to downgrade. I'm one of those people that know a lot about a little bit. Can you give me an example of how to downgrade to the previous version?

I'll have the log file posted in a few.

The log file is too big to post here. Where can I post it so I can link it here? I can't think of the site off the top of my head.

The log file is full of this:
[Errno -5] No address associated with hostname
Just after it opens connections with your Usenet provider.

It looks like your DNS isn't resolving the Usenet server name.
(Or Python doesn't know how on your system.)

Try:
telnet server-address 119

I think those errors were tied into when I had downloaded so much stuff over and over and over. I actually used up all my available bandwidth for that provider.

I went in yesterday and blew both sab and sickbeard away and reinstalled them. Everything is working fine now. Don't know why or what changed with this reinstall, but it's all good.

Thanks for looking into this.
