Failed to authenticate to mail server with Gmail

Hi all,

Notification feature worked for a long time now I'm not getting any notifications. Error when I try to test is: Failed to authenticate to mail server Only what changed is that I installed Kaspersky IS. I even tried disabling but it does not make any difference.
Can someone please post their working settings?

Just use gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com as SMTP server.

No username/password/authentication needed. That is ... as long as you send (from and) to gmail.com

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Replaced smtp.gmail.com:587 with gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com left "OPTIONAL Account Username" and "OPTIONAL Account Password" blank, saved changes and did test, it was showing verifying and then at the end says "Failed to connect to mail server".
If I leave "Email Sender" blank and do a test, it says "Email Sent!" but I never receive it in my Gmail inbox?
And yes I was sending from/to Gmail before.

On my setup, gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com works perfectly. See logging below.

If you get "Failed to connect to mail server", I would suspect a virusscanner or firewall on your system, or a blocking of port 25 by your ISP.

As you installed Kaspersky IS, I would suspect that. Easy test: de-install and remove Kaspersky completely (no, de-activating does not solve it), and try again.

Got it to work with old settings!
Here's what I did:

Went to http://www.google.com/settings/security "Access for less secure apps" was turned off, turned it on and voila started working right away.
