I installed SABnzbd on my new windows 10 machine. I used a very nice you tube video to help me thru the wizard : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m52b3TZr14I. Tested my connection and it passed. Got a message that the install was completed successfully.

However, when I go to the login in page, I get this message: "Authentication failed, check username/password."

I know I,m using the correct user name and password, because that is how I log into to my news server which is newsguy.

You are talking about 2 different things.
There is the SABnzbd login for the SABnzbd interface and the login for your newsserver.
So the login for the interface will be different for the newsserver.

thanks for the quick response. this is the login page i am trying to use:

http://127.0.0.1:8080/sabnzbd/login/

I am using the user name and password that I created when using the install wizard for SABnzb

I am sure this is a problem that is so simple that I just can't see it. so, is the attached link the correct one to use to login. and if so, why can't I

Right click the Sabnzbd icon in your windows tray, and select Restart without password. This will reset the username and password that was somehow set.

Hi:

I have a shortcut on my desk top and an icon on my task bar. However, right clicking on either does not give me the option you mention.

so sorry to be a pest here. I am retired and not of the computer generation, although as you can see I most certainly trying to embrace it.

Sorry, I wrote the wrong text!

Right click the icon in the Taskbar, then Troubleshoot then 'Restart without login'.

Thanks............. That worked !!!!!! I am assuming I'll have to follow: "Troubleshoot then 'Restart without login" every time, but that's OK as long it functions.

I am downloading a documentary as we speak and it seems to be functioning fine. So, this old fart appreciates your help !!!!!

PS.. I just noticed from your signature that you are from Switzerland. It must be beautiful there. Never been to Europe, although my Dad was in the military and was in England, France, Belgium, and Germany during WWII

From now on you should be able to start SABnzbd without this trick, doing the Troubleshoot once will save it now to be without password in the future
