Updating SABnzbd on a seedbox?

So, I use SABnzbd on my desktop version 2.3.4
My seedbox SABnzbd client is at version 2.2.1.
I'd like to update it to the latest version except I'm not exactly sure how to do that.

It says "Update Available! 2.3.4" when I log into my seedbox SABnzbd, but it downloads the update to my desktop and it would likely just install over my existing desktop SABnzbd, so how do I update my seedbox SAB? I imagine this process probably isn't too difficult. I'm very new to seedboxes so It's probably something simple I'm overlooking.

Also it says: "Multicore Par2 Not available Speed up repairs by installing multicore Par2, it is available for many platforms. https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/installation/multicore-par2"

My Desktop client has it, but my seedbox client says "Not Available"
Is it essential to have it working for my seedbox SAB?

How did you install SAB on your seedbox?
If you use a Ubuntu/Debian based distribution (apt/deb) then you can use our own PPA: https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/installation/i ... buntu-repo
It will auto-update and install all you need.

I think a seedbox is a bit like a shared Unix system of your university / company in the old days: you as user have no root rights, so you have to live with the pre-installed software, and/or install in your home directory.

EDIT:

So easiest to ask the seedbox administrator to install an update.

Or unpack SABnzbd in your home directory, and run it from there.

Yeah, I was looking around at the install section before I posted.

It's my understanding that 99% of seedboxes run Linux. What kinda Linux OS it is, I'm not entirely sure. Ubuntu is a Linux distro, so it may or may not work? I don't know. I'm new to Linux.

As for how I installed SAB on my seedbox - seedboxes come with an "Installers" and "Applications" section in their control panel, you can install any number of different programs. I saw SAB there and decided to install/setup and it went fine, but I didn't see a way for me to update SAB/Multicore Par2, but like the first link you posted, I *may* be able to do this for Multicore Par2: https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/installation/multicore-par2

Try using the PPA first, maybe you have luck.

Would there be any major drawback(s) to me using 2.2.1 over 2.3.4 and having no Multicore Par2 support?

If content downloads/unrars properly on 2.2.1 and I'm unable to update to 2.3.4, I may have to settle for using version 2.2.1.

It should work. We just fixed some annoying bus in later versions :)
