Hello,
I am running version 3.1.1 portable on Win 10 pro. Normally I would just download the zip file, unpack, and dump contents into the 3.1.1 portable folder. But I remember reading something about a program change that made doing so with this old version a problem.
Would appreciate any help.

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

Indeed, don't do that. You'll need to extract to a new folder and update the way you execute it

So after extracting to new folder aim all the pointers at the old directories I was using? (excluding the 3.1.1 portable folder)
After I fix the above, when there is program update, just extract zip contents to current program directory?

You'll need a new directory every update!
