Items stop unpacking / downloading - Keep having to reinstall sabnzbd

I've been having issues for a few weeks now and decided to open a ticket here.

Here are the steps as to how it happens:

1 - RSS feed > download individual files
2 - open files in sab
3 - files start to download
4 - files start to unpack successfully
5 - then, file downloads completely but can't unpack
6 - holds up downloading of other files, zero bandwidth being used
7 - reorder downloads > nothing
8 - pause download > restart > nothing
9 - restart sab > nothing

Just stuck at this point. Usually have to download the beta to replace sab install then it works again.

Servers tested = no problem.
Sorting - nothing interesting I don't think, standard for tv shows and movies.

What if you download a test file: SABnzbd -> Wrench (upper right corner) -> Test Download: 1GB.

I did this and was able to add the test file to queue but nothing happens wit the file. It was added to the top of the queue but nothing downloads.

If so ... possible causes:
* SABnzbd paused (wait, no: the Test download is forced, so will always happen)
* scheduled to not download
* bandwidth in SAB set to 0 Mbps
* no server active
* ...

Check above.
Two additional approaches:
1) set SAB logging to +Debug, add the Test download, and see the last 30 lines of sabnzbd.log
2) start with a fresh sabnzbd.ini. Which OS is your SAB running on? See https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/faq#freshstart

Checked these, don't seem to be an issue.

Checking the .log file and it seemed that after the last successful download, sab had a hard time establishing a connection with my network drive which is where completed downloads end up. Looks like everything was working on 3/31 with the last successful download that was then sorted to the network drive.

The next day sab had a hard time connecting with the network drive > began to download the file > finished downloading but never sorted. That's basically where I'm stuck. Any new files added to the queue are not moving.

THe hard drive I have on the network is getting up there in age. Maybe I need to replace it?

I should add that I have a hard time "removing" the job that was 100% downloaded. I get the "Removing job..." message that never goes away, even after a restart.

Very strange.
Can you try this:
Enable Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window (it's at INFO now).
Restart SABnzbd.
Add another NZB.
Wait 2-3 minutes.
Click show logging in the Status and Interface settings window and send the logs to me at [email protected]

Sorry for the delay. I restarted my laptop and now everything is fine.

Nothing is stuck anymore.

I have a feeling that this may be due to my older hard drive that these files are being saved to is causing issues. Sab gets an error message from time to time saying it can't connect tot he drive.

Thanks for your help but this issues has gone away, for now.
