Hi,

Since upgrading yesterday from 050 RC6 to 050 Final I have downloaded four files. The first two downloaded successfully but the last two resulted both in a popup window being shown  with the error: "par2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and the detailed info shows :"AppName:par2.exe  AppVer:0.0.0.0  ModName: par2.exe  ModVer: 0.0.0.0  Offset:000172cc"

Before the upgrade to 050 Final I never got such errors and nothing else was changed on the PC. So it looks as if it is caused by the upgrade to 050 Final. Can I replace the par2.exe file with the par2.exe file that came with 050 RC6 since that never gave this error?

People have mixed results with par2 multicore.
Yes, you can use the other par2, but don't forget to copy all DLL files in the folder too.
The old one needs DLLs, the new one does not.

If you want to play it safe, just disable the multi-core par2 in Config->Switches.

My download PC is an old 1 GHz Pentium 3 with 512 MB memory. So it has no multi core CPU.

In that case you can disable the use of the multicore par2 and switch to the more stable classic par2 by going to config>servers and disabling "Enable MultiCore Par2"

Correction - under Config/Switches.

I just had to disable mine. Also kept crashing since RC6

What was your experience with 0.4.12?
Concerning par2-multicore that is.
