Apparently no one who cares about usenet actually uses Solaris, so the build of unrar that's available for it is prehistoric. Said prehistoric build chokes when SABnzbd tries to use it.

After lamenting the lack of modern builds of unrar for Solaris with a couple users on IRC tonight I decided to do something about it and had Resident Solaris Expert placatedmayem build us stuff from source.

So here you go, Solaris people! unrar 3.9.9 for Solaris 9 / Solaris 10 / OpenSolaris. x86_64 and sparc builds included!

Please give us feedback on these builds! If they seem to work well enough, we'll consider bugging RARLAB to put it on their download page.

I literally spent hours looking for this, why no x86 build though?

Note:
To build this on a regular OSolaris install install the following packages:
SUNWgmake
sunstudio

And after that you may need to type:
CC=/bin/cc

as that variable was not set for me by default.

Regardless, with your instructions I was able to compile my own working modern unrar for x86, as a curtsy to anyone who needs a x86 one I uploaded my binary which should hopefully work here:
unrar-3.9-solarisx86.tar.bz2 (my solaris webserver)
Or my more reliable webhost:
unrar-3.9-solarisx86.tar.bz2 (webhost)

Excellent! I'm installing OpenSolaris tonight and was hoping it had SABnzbd support!
