Re: AppleTV Movies and TV Show script for Mac

When I woke up this morning I was greeted with a file sitting in my 'add to itunes' folder (a manual one I set up not the actual itunes one), it had been converted with handbreak and reported back a script success in sab but it had not completed the meta data part with iDentify.

I actually purchased iDentify from the Mac App Store and it works fine when I drag files in to it.

Is there a way of monitoring the script to see where the error occurred?

Thanks for any help I know it's taken me a year to find this and catch up.

An update :)

The script refer to a file called AppleTV,.... in fact the user settings are in the username/Applications/SAB/scripts/itunes.txt

So my apology...going to try the whole things now :)

randyharris wrote: Script updated:

- Added an "AppleTV2" setting as primary device option, not just [original] AppleTV
- 720P 50fps can now be encoded to 720P as 25fps which the AppleTV can play, it can't play 50fps 720P content
- Updated race schedules for 2011 season for Bahrain schedule change.

Here is the script, rebuilt to require 10.6.4 minimum OS version.

Enjoy.
SENSATIONAL!  Thanks Randy!

Has anyone got the iDentify part of this script to work?  I can get it to do everything seemlessly, but my files are not getting the metadata added when I look at them in itunes.  However if I take the downloaded file and drop it into iDentify2 app it picks up the data right away and I can add to itunes with the click of a button.

Anyone else having these difficulties? or know how to trouleshoot this?

Thanks
Paul

At the risk of talking to myself, but in case any one else is having the same problem here is the output from the script processing:
APPLETV SCRIPT DETAILS:
- Processing as a TV Show / Series
- Processing: Modern Family - S02E21.avi
- Transcoding for APPLETV
- Transcoding complete
- Modern Family - S02E21.m4v Tagged:
  - Show Name: Modern Family
  - Season: 02
  - Episode: 21
  - Episode Name: Modern Family - S02E21
- Chapters added every 3 minutes
- M4V has been optimized
- TV Show moved to Destination Folder:
  /Users/paul/Leeched/Add to iTunes/
- Moving the source files to the Trash Bin
- Total processing time h:mm:ss: 0:11:09[/img][/li]
It says the file was tagged, but no metadata is attached to it :(

The way it is designed is that Identify is only used for Movies and Music Videos, TV Shows are tagged based on the information contained in the download. So it should put in the SxxExx info for TV Shows and the title all automatically. I suppose since I'm a view and delete sort of person, that much detail suffices fine for me, I don't need the show description, actors, etc... for TV shows, I just need the title SxxExx and I'm good. If you want them fully tagged you could treat them as Movies instead of TV then they would open in Identify for full tagging.

Sounds simple enough, I'll tweak my categories and give it a go.

Thanks Randy!!!

  - Show Name: Modern Family
  - Season: 02
  - Episode: 21
  - Episode Name: Modern Family - S02E21

OK I spoke to soon,  I can't work out how to treat them as movies for full tagging?
The NZB is passed to sabnzbd from sickbeard (which looks after my tv programs) however I use your script to do the post processing as it will convert to m4v and place in my itunes ready for my apple tv to pick up.

Sorry Randy, I'm obviously asking your script to do more than it was intended but a few pointers would be helpful as I'm new to this.

Thanks so much
Paul

Under "CONFIG | Search Settings" there is a setting for "SABnzbd Category". I have mine set to TV 720P, if you change this to "Movies 720P" or anything else "Movies" it will tell SABnzbd+ to treat the file as a movie and that's how the iTunes script will treat it accordingly.

Hey Randy,

Quick question - how do I set up the script to use a Secondary Device?  Ie I want to encode a movie for both my ATV and my iPhone?

Steve

Just add the second device name to the category, e.g.: tv iphone

Which category? In Sabnzbd or the script?

The category in SABnzbd, if it says Movies 720P it will treat the file as a movie and attempt 720P if possible, if the category is set to TV it treats it as TV, add a second device to any of those categories and it will encode a second copy.
