New instance of SabNZBD opened with every nzb file

I had 0.5 installed but upgraded to 0.5.2 using the old config file, but then deleted the old config file and let the wizard create a new one located on Local Data\Local Settings\

But the problem I'm having is everytime I either select the 'open with sabnzbd' option or download a .nzb file and double click it, SabNZB will create a new process using a randomly chosen port number instead of the one in the config file as a sab process will already be using that port.

Is there any way to overcome this so all nzbd files are downloaded in just one sab process?

Did you use the -f parameter before?
Open a command prompt and type:

Code: Select all

ftype Nzb.File
What do you get?

that exact line given didn't work as it didn't detect the filetype,

I went through the control panel>folder options and this is what is set for NZB files;

Code: Select all

"C:\sabnzbd\SABnzbd.exe" "%1"

Is that the same way you normally start SABnzbd?
I mean, just using "c:\sabnzbd\SABnzbd.exe" without any parameters?
Do you start it under the same user account as you are normally logged in with?

Yes and yes, it was installed using the normal installer with empty config file, so default behaviour. and only one user account is used.

I give up.
For some reason the second instance cannot find the first instance.
You may have to resort to a simpler method, described here:
