tutorial for RSS?

Post by krum »

I'm fairly new to using RSS's.  I created an RSS for nzbmatrix that is just for a specific tv show.  I'm looking to download the newest episodes of shows when they are posted.  I have a few questions after adding the feed to sabnzbd.

1)  If you download an episode, and a few days later its reposted for what ever reason, will it be redownloaded again?

2)  Is there a site showing in detail different ways to using the filters on sabnzbd?  I'm sure the entire RSS downloading is really powerful, but I don't know where to find this power :)

3)  If I download an episode manually before the RSS feed is read, then the timer checks the rss feed, will it redownload what I just DLed by hand?  If it doesn't, where can I view this history that its checking on?

Thanks!

I have read the wiki page: http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-rss-v2

RSS remembers what was in the feed before and what it downloaded.
It helps to set option "Prevent duplicate downloads" on in Config->Switches.
The duplicate detection will only work for identical titles,
so there's no season/episode checking. Different release groups will mean duplicate downloads anyway.

You should upgrade to release 0.6.0 Beta4.
The RSS module is much improved in that release and a lot more user-friendly.

For true control you should use a front-end like SickBeard or CouchPotato.
However the setup of those is complex too.
