cache size: growing and shrinking. No self-protection?

Hi, SABnzbd 0.4.0 (Ubuntu Linux 8.04) stopped working because it filled up the harddisk by filling up the cache directory (yes, my / partition is too full). I relocated the cache to a partition with more space, and then I watched it's space use: it seems to go up (to about 45 MB) and down. Q1: is th...

Re: 64bit versions of UNRAR and PAR2

SABnzbd for Linux/Unix/OSX just uses whatever par2 and unrar program is installed. Not every Linux distro will come with the mentioned programs, so people may need to install alternative programs themselves. Only the Win32 distributions of SABnzbd contain par2 and unrar binaries. Oh, now I understa...

Re: 64bit versions of UNRAR and PAR2

I don't understand: on my 64-bit Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) SABnzbd just works with rar and par, without installing anything extra. So: when do you need the software you're referring to?

VPS as in Virtual Private Server?

I thought those machines were meant for hosting websites and databases? Can you explain how / why you use SABnzbd there?

0.4.0 RC4: complete/_FAILED_...

Hi,

I just noticed: failed downloads go into a directory called complete/_FAILED_...

Quite useful. Is it a new feature of RC4?

Wow: your htop shows 8 cores and/or threads? Do you have an 8 core system, or 4 cores which are multithreaded?

Sorry: I was talking about the NNTP SSL connection, in other words the NNTPS on 563.

Oh, wait. My post seems incorrect ... you still have to fill out the port number ... :-(

0.4.0RC3: "SSL" does not need explicit mentioning of port 563 ... cool!

Hi,

It looks like 0.4.0RC3 has an improvement which is not mentioned in the announcement: when selecting "SSL" you don't need to explicitly specify port 563. That's quite handy!

Thanks!

PS: after setting the number of connections of the non-functional server to 0, the download completes.

Re: Question about 0.4.0RC2 and 0 connection servers

I'm looking forward at RC3; With 0.4.0 RC2, my downloads still stall at about 1 MB when one server is not usable. It looks like SAB only wants to rely on the non -usable server. Proof; the connection overview shows this: #  news.ipv6.eweka.nl:119: 0     * Thread #1 -> 48066492$1$20033$6d4158fb@reade...

Re: 0.4.0-beta5: downloads stops at last 1 MB

Thanks, Shypike. That looks hopeful, because, as you know, I had one server with "connections = 0" in my sabnzbd.ini.

Re: 0.4.0-beta5: downloads stops at last 1 MB

Oh, and BTW: with SABnzbd 0.3.4 I get a higher download speed than with 0.4.0 Beta 5. See included picture: 0.3.4 is on the right (one download), 0.4.0 Beta 5 is on the left/middle (four download).  ??? Please ignore this remark; it was probably caused by a p2p upstream bandwidth which was too high...

Re: 0.4.0-beta5: downloads stops at last 1 MB

Next try: a download with a clean sabnzbd.ini Well, with a clean, new sabnzbd.ini, used by Beta 5, everythings works OK. So that must mean the root cause is in sabnzbd.ini ... ? As there are quite some differences between the functional and the non-funtional sabnzbd.ini (password on GUI, extra news...
