I looked around at a few posts but most of the problematic posts I ran into involved users having slow bandwidth listed in the wrench section. I tried a few of the listed solutions (such as disabling Direct Unpack, less connections, etc) but I have not been able to resolve my issue.
Container: binhex-sabnzbdvpn
Unraid: 6.12.10
Network: Custom Docker Network
Internet Speed: 1gig
Wrench readout:
System performance (Pystone) 474661 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz AVX2 Docker
Download folder speed 278.3 MB/s /data/usenet/incomplete
Complete folder speed 277.2 MB/s /data/usenet/complete
Internet Bandwidth 62.92 MB/s 503.36 Mbps
The /data sharer is on a cache drive (SSD) set as primary and the array as secondary with mover set to cache -> array.
As stated on there, my download speed should be in the 60-ishMB/s range but I consistently only download at 30MB/s. It is very rare to see this climb to 40MB/s, and even then it doesnt stay at that speed for longer than a blip. It sucks to know that I can reach the 60MB/s (though I can acknowledge with VPN I am taking a bit of a hit. I am still not reaching the listed high speed) and am only downloading at half that speed.
I currently have two providers. I primarily use Easy News as my primary but bought into Usenet Server as a test to see if I could get full speed. On both I am at 60 connections but have tried a varying amount of numbers between them to see if that would make a difference. Which it did not.
Any assistance or suggestions is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Slow download speed Unraid
Also 30-40 MB/s for the 100MB resp 1GB test download (via SABnzbd's Wrench)?
Also without VPN?

Re: Slow download speed Unraid
Yes, I have tried all the test download options and its the same speed. I have not tested a container without the VPN (the container has vpn baked into it).
As for the article you provided.... to clarify does that mean I will need the "incomplete" folder to be in its own share? I currently do have Permit Exclusive Shares enabled but am realizing that I am not taking advantage of it due to the secondary storage being set.

Also, I did follow the trash guides on this. Specifically the unRAID 6.12 (cache) route which does suggest my current application of the share (Cache to Array).

Well, the great thing about docker: stop that container with VPN built in, start a SAB docker without VPN, and test it.lokifromasgard wrote: ↑January 7th, 2025, 7:00 pm Yes, I have tried all the test download options and its the same speed. Keep Incomplete inside your docker for best speeds.

Re: Slow download speed Unraid
Tested the non-vpn container writing to the same incomplete directory and I am getting full 100MB/s speed. I guess this comes down to a limitation with my current vpn? (NordVPN)

Re: Slow download speed Unraid
So I saw my NordVPN was actually just about to expire. Decided to go PIA with Wireguard config for this next test. Sure enough, I am getting full speed now in SAB. I guess NVPN wasnt too friendly with SAB. In any case, issue solved. Thanks for your help @sander.

Good. You're welcome.

PS:
Can you post the output of the SABnzbd wrench (like in your opening post)? I wonder if you now get a nice 100 MB/s instead of your ealier "Internet Bandwidth 62.92 MB/s 503.36 Mbps"
