0.5.0 RSS downloads already downloaded items

I installed 0.5.0 on my ubuntu machine.
Conf. was kept, RSS seems to work, but when I came back half an hour later, the queue was 240GB+.

So I purged the queue, but the same items keep coming back.

How can I fix this? Tx, pir

Could be a corrupt rss_data.sab file in the cache folder.
If you remove that file, all feeds will be seen as "new".
That will star ('*') all current content of the feeds,
so that they won't be downloaded.
Stop SABnzbd, remove file, Start SABnzbd.

I encounter the same problem on Mac OS X 10.6.2 with SABnzbd+ v0.5. The RSS feeds are downloaded each time when I start the program. I stopped the program, removed the rss_data.sab file from ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/cache. When I start SABnzbd+ again, it will add all items to the queue again. When I purge the items, it seems to be fine. When I restart SABnzbd+ again, then all items are added to the queue again. This drives me nuts.

When I click "preview" then it also shows that it downloads the RSS feeds multiple times:

As you can see, all items are added multiple times. When I start SABnzbd again, then the matched items are added again...

I upgraded from the v0.4.x release, but I have removed all configuration files (~/.sabnzbd and ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd directories) and started fresh using the wizard.  When I remove all files from ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd, but leave the sabnzbd.ini file (the freshly generated version), then everything works fine the first time I start the program. When I quit and start again, then it starts downloading all RSS items again.

I hate to go back to v0.4, because I like the integration into the menubar instead of the dockitem. I downgraded to v0.5.0 RC6 and it has the same problem.

I think I have found a solution. You need to check the "Config - Switches - Prevent Duplicate Downloads" option to prevent that RSS items are downloaded over and over again. I read this has something to do that some RSS feeds issue new identifiers each time. I don't recall that I needed to check this option for v0.4, but I am not 100% confident.

I am using NZBIndex.nl, so I guess that is the problem. It is easy to forget the "duplicate" switch and I doubt that I set the switch in the old SABnzbd+. I migrated the configuration from the old version to the new version and it wasn't set, so either you didn't need this switch in v0.4 or it isn't migrated correctly to v0.5.

I wonder why this is an issue, because the filenames are exactly the same. Why not match on the filename? It could also be an idea to issue a warning when you add an NZBIndex.nl feed that you need to enable this option. I know it doesn't solve the issue for other RSS feeds that are not 100% compatible, but it would make life easier for users that do use NZBIndex.

We're getting tired of compensating for the idiosyncrasies of all these sites,
so there won't be a warning. You never know, next week they may mend their ways.
Not everyone wants to prevent identical titles.
Besides, using the URL as key works fine for all the other sites.

I am a software engineer myself, so I understand your frustration. The switch is sufficient for me, but people that use NZBIndex might not use SABnzbd+ because of this issue. I agree that NZBIndex should fix the RSS feed, but if they don't then this might impact the acceptance of SABnzbd+ for these users. But hey... It's your product and I am glad you guys took the time to create it. I like it very much.
