It's not Bitdefender. I thought it might be, so I de-installed it (yes, completely) and tested it again. Still the exact same problem.

You de-installed BitDefender, but if it was dumb enough to remove the sqlite3.dll file,
the damage is still done.
Download the ZIP distribution, not the installer.
Unzip it somewhere.
Run the program SABnzbd-console.exe from a command prompt.
See what the output is.
Afterwards, check if there is a file called SABnzbd-console.exe.log or SABnzbd.exe.log.
See what's inside.
Check if this file exists:
your-path\SABnzbd-0.5.0\lib\sqlite3.dll
the damage is still done.

You have to exclude the sabnzb.exe file from Bitdefender Realtime-Virusscanner.
