The latest and greatest (v0.5.0) does not work on Windows 7 x64.
The process can briefly be seen in the Task Manager but then goes away.
v0.4.12 works great still, can there be a compilation flag problem so that the code that is generated is not compatible with Win7 x64 ?
I guess I'm stuck with 0.4.12 until this is resolved.

Re: 0.5.0 on Win7 x64 does not work
Open a command prompt and type:
"c:\program files (x86)\SABnzbd\SABnzbd-console.exe"
Watch for error messages.
Check your virus scanner. Some of these are so stupid that they
remove files from our installation folder.

I have a full copy of Python 2.6.5 installed and sqlight is distributed with it these days.

Re: 0.5.0 on Win7 x64 does not work
After trying to disable my Anti-virus it works, and the program keeps working even after I turn it back on...
What kind of freaky shit are you guys doing in the start up of the program ?
I'm using BitDefender Antivirus 2010.

Re: 0.5.0 on Win7 x64 does not work
First I want to apologize for the line about "...freaky shit...", I now realize that it is seriously lacking a smiley
I also want to post that I found a solution.
Using BitDefender 2010:
Using "Exclusions" under the tabs Antivirus->Exclusions does NOT work with BD 2010. This is a good thing since no access scanning needs to be turned off, however, the bad part is that one needs to set the AV up to allow SABnzbd+ to act as if it was a virus. This should not allow a real virus to exploit this since on-access scanning is still done of the file.
The only way to do this is to ....
1. Open BitDefender 2010 Console.
2. Click the leftside-tab "Antivirus".
3. On the top-tab make sure you are on "Shield".
4. Under the heading "Protection Level" there is a button "Advanced Settings", click it.
5. Under the heading "Exclusions", click the little "+" button.
6. Navigate to the path of SABnzbd, highlight SABnzbd.exe and click "Open".
7. Click "Ok" to close down the Advanced Settings and then close down the AV console.
You should now be able to start and stop SABnzbd+ under BitDefender 2010.

Well "freaky shit" is what security suites think we are doing.Kulfaangaren wrote: First I want to apologize for the line about "...freaky shit...", I now realize that it is seriously lacking a smiley![]()
They consider any internet access outside that of programs from established companies as "freaky shit".
And they generally have a shitty reaction to it.
Like not telling the user what "security measures" they took.
Honestly, what you have to do to make BD behave itself,, is ridiculous.
How would a less technically inclined person find this out?
Thanks for sharing the solution.

Re: "Freaky shit..."
Yes, agreed. They don't really handle it very well and in this case BD didn't even tell the user that it was interfering which to me is close to a criminal act.
Re: "...ridiculous..."
Yes definitely.
A less technical person would have done what I first did, turn off BD to start and stop SABnzbd+ and then turn it back on again. They have close to no chance of figuring this out.
A real source of irritation when a security suite behaves like this.
If I had any brains I should chuck this bloody Win7 out the window and do as I do at work...running only Linux. At least then I could expect to find traces of what happens in logs etc.
Re: "Sharing..."
NP, that is what a community/forum is for in my opinion.

I have no issues with Win7, I do all my development work on it.
I just stick to MS Security Essentials and the Windows Firewall...

Well...MS Security Essentials does the same thing to Battlefield Bad Company 2 that BitDefender 2010 does to SABnzbd+...shypike wrote: I have no issues with Win7, I do all my development work on it.

Been there...Done that! Got the T-shirt.
