0.4.0.3 won't DL from Giganews

Post by methanoid »

Can't be 100% sure if its the new SAB or GN but I was using 0.4.0 b2 with no issues (well it was a little slow this AM but nothing else)... Installed b3 and it would not DL from Giganews. Tried the European servers, tried port 80. It shows as connected initially and then loads of this:

2008-05-04 10:51:32,092 WARNING [downloader] Thread [email protected] :119: timed out

Server is:

[servers]
[[news.giganews.com:80]]
host = news.giganews.com
port = 80
username = XXXXXXXX
password = XXXXXXX
connections = 10
timeout = 120
fillserver = 0
ssl = 0

Any ideas? Bug or WarmWare error?

total uninstall and reinstall of SAB fixed it.. I suspect it didnt like an "upgrade"....

Now to tackle GN over todays slow DL speed

I always re-use my INI file and cache and I use news-europe.giganews.com to test (both normal and ssl).
No problems here, just checked.
However, I upgrade all the time of course, so I have not done the full Beta2-->Beta3 jump.

The general advise is not to re-use the cache/queue etc.
The INI file is compatible for all releases since 0.3.0 (except that later releases have more features).
