Using head may have been a bit overboard. Found the STAT command just gives a single-line response which should be faster.
Also XHDR may be used for mass receiving header details, but not so sure if it helps in finding missing articles unless you can compare the results against what is in the nzb. http://www.mibsoftware.com/userkt/nntpext/0023.htm

The STAT (nntpstat in perl speak) works indeed. I don't know if it gives better speeds.
XHDR (and XOVER and XPAT and XROVER) look very interesting: hopefully they will give meta-information in a fast way (as long as the server supports it).

Code: Select all
xhdr ( HEADER, MESSAGE-SPEC )
Obtain the header field HEADER for all the messages specified.
The return value will be a reference to a hash where the keys are the message numbers and each value contains the text of the requested header for that message.
xpat ( HEADER, PATTERN, MESSAGE-SPEC)
The result is the same as xhdr except the is will be restricted to headers where the text of the header matches PATTERN

Re: "Download speed: 0.18 KB/s" because of ... missing articles
Guys, please help... I get a similar problem when trying to download ANY NZB file from my ISP's newserver. I get a ton of warnings that files are not available. The speed slows and eventually stops. Some files will try to post process, but are corrupt. The weird thing is that if I use sabnzbd with my newsbin account , it works. What is even more weird, if I use Unison with the same NZB files, no errors, no problems!!! I would much rather use sabnzbd than Unison. Please Help

It's a long shot and maybe it's not the solution.
But there is an option in Config->Switches that says "Send Group", enable it.
If that does not help, please set logging to maximum (Connections page)
download something from your ISP and then send the NZB and the logging files
to bugs at sabnzbd.org.
BTW, which ISP do you have?

Re: "Download speed: 0.18 KB/s" because of ... missing articles
I am still having problem with my ISP, I use Armstrong cable "Zoominternet" and I cannot get sabnzbd to work at all. Even though my ISP doesn't require a username or pass, I either get a user/pass failed or Authentication failed, or article missing errors. I have yet to download a single item with Sabnzbd with my ISP. Now if i use newsbin or other, NO PROBLEMS.
please help, my ISP/news server works with Unison, but not with nabd!!!
going crazy here!!!

I repeat my previous request:
please set logging to maximum (Connections page)
download something from your ISP and then send the NZB and the logging files
to bugs at sabnzbd.org.
