My Apologies for this Stupid Question

Post by sfjim »

Hi Guys!

I have a Mac Pro OS X 10.6.6.  I have just downloaded SABnzbdPlus (SABnzbd-0.5.6-osx.dmg) and moved it to my Applications folder.  When I attempt to run it, I get this message:

"SABnzbd+.app is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"

I click Open, then get this message in a Safari window:

>>To view this page, you must log in to area "SABnzbd" on localhost:9090<<

Which username and password do I enter?  I've tried my username and password for my home computer.  I've tried my registered username at this forum.  I've tried the username for the nntp server I've subscribed to.  That doesn't work either.  Anyway, I get this error message:

"The user name or password you entered for area "SABnzbd" on localhost:9090 was incorrect.  Make sure you're entering them correctly, and then try again"

Well, I'm at the end of my rope and at the risk of looking stupid, I'm asking for help.

Did you go through the Setup Wizard?
If so, chances are you typed in your Usenet provider username and password.
(We're changing the Wizard for the next release).

If you cannot figure it out, just reboot (or kill SABnzbd) and remove the sabnzbd.ini file:
/Users/user/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/sabnzbd.ini

Hi shypike,

Thank you for responding.  There was no setup wizard.  I just moved the dmg file to the apps folder.  Then I clicked it and it started with the instructions I've listed.  Apparently, SABnzbd is not even installing because there is no "~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/logs" for example.  Where is the setup wizard?

Jim.

As soon as I click on the SABnzbd application for the first time, and every time thereafter I get the attached window (see graphic).

This is totally weird.
It can only happen when there has been a previous installation of SABnzbd.
This is your first time?
The Wizard is a web page in Safari and it's the first item shown when SABnzbd starts up
for the first time.

Please stop SABnzbd, search your disk for sabnzbd.ini and remove it.
Aren't there nice cleanup utilities for OSX?

Thanks, shypike, I searched for and deleted the ini file, restarted and went through the setup wizard.  Thank you again.

Hi,

I have the same trubble and no issue ?

Mac OS X 10.8 (last update)

When i try to install Sabnzbd, I am redirected to the next page:
"localhost:9090" and they ask me for name and password ?
I try with http and https on 9090 and 8080...

So i searched for solution and find this topic, but there is no file named "sabnzbd.ini" on my computer ?
And for good reason, installation has not been made !

If you have a solution or even an idea for a solution, I'm interested

Thank you all,

SABnzbd is running? You see a down-arrow in the top menu?
If so, click it and from the dropdown menu select Troubleshoot->Restart _without_login
