reconection difficulties

My computer gets disconnected at night for at least 30 minutes. After the internet is reestablished, sab is unable to resume dl. Actually it is rather strange for it thinks it is dling! The status shows it is downloading, at full bw. Even the transfer speed graph gets updated.

If I pause and resume, nothing happens. Have even added a series of resume schedules, though with no success. Had this problem for a while, and currently I'm running 4b5 (osx).

It's on the to-do list.
As a work-around and if the disconnect takes place at a fixed time, you could schedule a pause just before the disconnect.
And a resume afterwards. This should help.

No fixed time for the disconnects, so I will have to deal with it in the meantime.

What operating system are you running? I can't get a loss in connection to break downloading, it starts again for me not long after my connection is re-established.

I have the same problem here

Running Gentoo Linux kernel 2.6.24, sabnzbd 0.4.0RC2

sabnzbd thinks its still downloading, but it isnt actually downloading. "Force disconnect" and pause and resume doesnt work. Only restarting of sabnzbd works.

I will try now the stable release.

Im connected via router, dhcp to the internet.

We are investigating this problem.
It's very hard to reproduce for us because it seems to affect only people with shaky
internet connections.
So far what we see is: disconnecting the network cable has no effect (no lasting).
You need to switch off and on the cable or ADSL modem to force this problem, which is
not something that is appreciated by our family members 
We do see a hangup, but so far have found no cure for the problem.

What is also unknown is whether this problem affects older releases (like 0.3.4) also.

if I shutdown (via webinterface) sabnzbd after reconnection of my dsl connection, firefox shows "transfering data from localhost", but nothing happens.

Just tried 0.3.4 final, and it works if I manually disconnect and reconnect via webinterface from my router.

Thanks for the test.
The download section was changed quite a bit to accommodate SSL connections.
One more clue for the debugging.

The hangups are caused by the SSL feature. We can reproduce it now.
We're busy finding a solution, not easy because it looks like a bug in the SSL module we use.
At least a work-around will be in RC3.

We cannot reproduce the problem when no SSL connections are used at all.
As soon as one server with SSL is involved, the problem can occur.

The hangup itself should be solved in 0.4.0RC3, at least it will resume downloading.
The UI will show "downloading" and a constant speed during the disconnection.
The latter we will not be able to fix for 0.4.0Final.

Yes, there's something wrong with the SSL libraries of Python.
Not something we can fix on short notice...

You do need to wait for some time for the connection to resume.
Depending on the amount of threads and the server timeouts.
