RC5 - Plush - Setting the max download speed

Post by cinos »

Not sure if this has already been spotted but I've noticed that if I download a file uncapped and then try putting on a limit, the limit doesn't take.

For example:

Downloading a file at 2000kbps
Enter in a limit of 100kbps
Download still continues at 2000kbps

Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

That was the first thing I did. It doesn't work. :)

No need to get defensive, I'm just describing the problem I'm having. Basically I find if the limit is set before I download anything then it sticks. If however I remove the limit, wait for it to get up to speed and then put a limit back in, it does nothing.

Just tried changing it in the general config and that seems to work fine. So apparently it's just with the plush menu.

Ok I have tested this even further. When I change the value of the speed in the plush menu, it then puts that value into general config HOWEVER it's not until I click save there that the limit actually starts to work.

Taking into account that the speed is an average, I still observe after 2 minutes that I am downloading files at 2MB/s. If the limit did indeed work then regardless of the average I would surely still see a drop in the amount of megabytes it is downloading every second (I have it set to refresh every second, not sure if that may be the problem for some unknown reason).

Seriously though, I am trying to help. This is not an attack in anyway. I love Plush and Sabnzbd and I just want to help in making it better. Even if it turns out that this is just an oversight on my part, could you please try and be a little less condescending. We're on the same side here.

I cannot confirm your report.
After testing with SABnzbd on both Windows and Linux, I don't see the problem.
So far I have only tested with Firefox 2 on the client side.

The update of the actual speed is a bit unpredictable, depending on when the refresh kicks in.

Can you specify the host operating system and the web browser you use?

Aha that may be it. I'm currently using Firefox 3 and xp 64bit.

Funnily enough I just upgraded that browser today. :)

Just tested in IE ( :P) and it works as it should there. So yes it would seem it's to do with Firefox 3, don't know if that's their problem or ours though.  :-\

I use firefox 3 also but I use windows XP 32 bit and i don't experience this problem. Maybe it has something to do with old cache. Isn't firefox 3 using the old cache from firefox 2? Try cleaning it from your browser. Maybe that will help...
