Re: System Freezes
Me too!
Thought my system was dying too but it seems software is causing it. Strange thing is it freeze at such a low level there is no logging. After a hard reset theres just the normal boot process in the logs.
Are all of you that are using sabnzbd on Ubuntu also using Sickbeard? Or maybe even Plex media server?
So the things I've done so far..
- Check logs, nothing.
- Upgrade system and software to the lastest version, nothing.
- Hard reset a hundred times
- touch /forcefsck
- checked diskspace
- checked cpu load and memory use
I'm Running Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty), with the latest SABnzbd, checked last night, cannot see the version nr because it's down again and I can not reset it from here.
Running Sickbeard with updated sourcecode, of course par2, unrar and openssl (and using SSL on downloads).
Also running Plex media server, latest version, checked last night. I'm using Plex to connect to the server and stream media, not SMB (though I'm not sure if pms doesn't use SMB).
I didn't change any of the unrar, par2 or openssl versions, I use either the system versions or the ones that came with sabnzbd.
It's all running on a dual core atom 1,5Ghz "DIY nas" with 2GB memory and 2 x 1,5GB Samsung Spinpoint disks + 2 x 2TB Samsung Spinpoint disks as one big XFS volume.
Booting is done from a 8GB USB pendrive that has room to spare..
I will try to disable SSL tonight and set PAR2 to single threaded if it isn't. Then see what happens so it can be ruled out.
Meanwhile, does anyone know any suspects to add to the list or one that I can rule out?

Re: System Freezes
We're still looking at a possible issue with the Python cPickle library,
although that doesn't cause hard crashes.
More info here: http://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9708
I would appreciate feedback on this subject.

Re: System Freezes
I changed cPickle to pickle too, hopefully this will solve it.. Then this won't happen again, which might make me not come back here so just bump the thread if I forget to..

Re: System Freezes
bump
I am having the same issue but on windows xp
seems to be both par2 and unrar

Re: System Freezes
If you're using a 64 bit operating system, go to Config->Special.
Set allow_64bit_tools to off.
Some hardware has trouble running par2 and unrar in 64bit mode.
