Debian sid update

Post by PECgeo »

Okay, I am little slow on the uptake sometimes but I just noticed that release 7.3 is out and my last weeks upgrade has sabnzbd plus at 6.15. So i guess sabnzbd is no longer being maintained in the official sense in Debian repositories. This is a shame apt-get is just so easy. So after a little reading apt-get thing is done through ppa. Well my success ratio of ppa's on a Debian sid system is always memorable but for the wrong reasons. In other words it has a tendency to create problems. So I will avoid this, I spend to much time trouble shooting as it is.
So that leaves the tar.gz.
I will unzip this and place it in /opt along with Headphones, Couchpotato. Are there any gotcha's that I should be aware of?
Are there any plans for updating through git like Headphones and Couchpotato? This seems to work okay.
As a side note init.d scripts (Unbuntu) suggested by Couchpotato has not woked for me for version 2. I have not had time to figure that one out. I haven't bothered with heaphones init.d yet.
Not all things ubuntu work in Debian sid.
Thanks for all your hard work on this program. It has made doing things so much easier.

I have updated and placed everything in /opt except .sabnzbd which is in /home and all is well. There were no issues which is scary ;D
Thanks
