Compare ISP to Giganews?

Post by zoneboyz »

Anyone else interested in compiling results as of this year so far? 2013

- We have a Speedtest of 32 mb down (Comcast 50mb line)
- Giganews 48 connections - tried all SSL ports
- SABnzb 3.4 MB (Max)

Anyone getting better than this speed?

so we have this test underway with interesting results;

SABnzb (on a Guest - Hyper-V) with 4mb mem/48 connections to Giganews = 3.2 mb DL
Mimo Usenet Reader (on Bare Metal) with 16gb mem/48 connections to Giganews = 29.1 mb DL

New test will be;

SABnzb (on Bare Metal) with 16gb mem/48 connections to Giganews - stay tuned

99 megabits per second, SAB, i5, 4 GB RAM (Home PC)

My 4 year old laptop does the same.

So after our testing here are the results;

SABnzb does not surpass 3.2 mb while on the same machine Mimo reaches 41.0 mb

With this we are now trying to understand why SABnzb cannot reach the same throughput or at least near that number..

"3.2 mb". Let's take that litterally: 3.2 milli-bit. That's not much.

But I do think you mean: "3.2 MB/s". And that's "32 Mbps". And that's close to 41.0 Mbps.

sander,

3.2 vs 32 this is a HUGE variance..

If you are familiar with Mimo - we suspected they performed some false "calc" or algorithm showing these results so placed a sniffer on the network and tracked actual throughput on the NIC to Router and have these same numbers.

Do you understand my quote:

Code: Select all

 "3.2 MB/s". And that's "32 Mbps"
And if so, do you agree?

Now back: what does SAB report: 3.2?

sander,

you are correct - 3.5 MB/s reported by SAB, and network traffic is 30% of 10gb which is about 35

our mistake sorry about the Miss-interpretation of the results and wasting your time
