Downloads No Longer Start [No address associated with host]

Post by TheCMH »

Hi, new here and somewhat new to Ubuntu so please work with me! Not a total noob, but certainly not an expert.

Running the latest version of Ubuntu, and accessing sabmzbd through Chrome. ISP is Uverse. Using their 2Wire as the modem, and an Airport Extreme as the router. I subscribe to Giganews.

Things were working absolutely perfectly for the last few weeks. Then I had a few NZBs lined up to start overnight and when I awoke, there was an error about disk space. I cleaned up the disk, created about 60GB of space, and went back to resume downloading. Nothing would work. I deleted everything from the queue. Every NZB file in the complete and incomplete folders, and re-added new ones. Nothing. Speed says 0 kb/sec, and 00000 for time left.

When I test the connection of the server, it says successful. I tried different ports, HTTPS and non, changed the connections from 20 (which is what it was when it was working) to 8, and to 1. Nothing. Restarted the laptop. Restarted both router and modem. Nothing. Uninstalled/reinstalled sabnzbd... nothing. Uninstalled and deleted every file on my HD related to sabnzbd... nothing. Found instructions here to delete the .INI file. Did that, re-completed the setup... still not working.

I've checked and re-checked to be sure it isn't a global pause.

On the Status page, I've selected both 'restart' options... neither fix it.

No errors on the Latest Warnings page.

HOWEVER, there is this on the connections page:

Server: news.giganews.com

Status: Enabled

# Connections: Failed to connect: (110, '[Errno -5] No address associated with hostname') [email protected]:119

I assume that is the key. I've scoured the boards and have a feeling it is either a DNS issue, or a Port issue. But I can't find any resolution.

If you have any suggestions at all, i would greatly appreciate it! Please let me know if I forgot any important information.

Thanks in advance!

Can you add as a server:

216.196.109.131

(which is news.giganews.com) with your news.giganews.com credentials and see what happens?

Sander, thanks for the help.

I added that server, saved it, tested the connection (successful) and restarted SAB.

That did something! Speed went to 200kb+ for a few seconds, but went back to 0 kb/sec. Left it for awhile, and it's still at 0 KB/s.

I don't know. What does stdout say? Only one server activated?

Did you read http://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13514 ?

Sander, I tried that thread but it didn't help. I ended up uninstalling it on Ubuntu and installing the Windows version via Wine and I'm back to normal. Odd, no idea what the issue was!

Thanks
