Western digital my book live support?

Post by Alonzzo2 »

Hi,

I hope I'm not annoying anyone with this question, I've already searched google and this forum for an answer to this question:
Does sabnzbd (on while we're at it, couchpotato and sick beard also) support WD my book live? and by support I mean can I install it on the WD and everything will work fine, like it does on my pc?

I've found some google results that suggest that it can be done but I wanted to make absolutely sure it does support before paying 150-200$ on this nas just to find out it doesn't work, cause the main target for which i'll buy this nas is to download and stream everything, and leave nothing for my pc.

thanks!

Short answer: No. SABnzbd on a NAS is different and probably more difficult (as you're asking this question) than on Windows.

Reasons:
1) The SAB development team only releases a Windows version, an OSX version and Source. And 'jcfp' releases an Ubuntu version. That's it.
2) Other seems to maintain (or not) packages for other platforms, but sometimes you have to pay for that, and/or support seems to be bad, as questions arrive here in the forum, with less response than for mainstream platforms.
3) Your PC is probably much more powerful than a NAS/Disk/...., so - for example - you could expect lower download and unrar speeds.

So if you want Windows experience and performance, install SABnzbd on a Windows device (WHS?) with a great CPU and RAM.
