SABNZBD freezes when downloading

mac mini 2011 i5 16gb ram
OSX 10.8.2
SABNZBD 0.7.5
dmg install

Since the latest update I got an annoying issue with SABNZBD. the software keeps running without issues, processes everything very well. But when loading multiple nzb's, the system seems to choke. I experience no other issues other than with Sabnzbd, which hangs. I have to restart nzbd again and than it runs again.

I have reinstalled the package without luck. The log file shows no errors at all.

Doesn't it like to get a lot of NZBs in one go?
Doesn't it like having a large queue?
Is there any significant change in CPU load and memory usage when trouble starts (use Activity Monitor)?
What is "choke"? Does it just stop dowloading? Does the UI become unresponsive?
Which UI skin are you using? Which browser?

Due to the problems with failed downloads and increase of CRC`s I have downgraded to 0.7.4. Still got a reasonable amount of failed jobs but much less. Having said this, the problem of the freezing of Sab has disappeared as well.

It happens when loading 5> nzb`s with downloads of around 10 gb. with small nzb's there is no issue at all.

CPU and memory is on normal levels

UI hovering works but no refresh. When the page is reloaded, it seems that Sab has crashed and I have to start SAB again.

Standard UI through Safari.

Had a similar problem in Lion and in Mountain Lion, changed MTU to 9000 in: SYSTEM PREFERENCES/ NETWORK/ADVANCED/HARDWARE/MTU/CUSTOM

Now no more freezing.

Weird, I must look into this.
My first reaction is that it's not wise to change the MTU, because when you set it too high,
there will be a lot of packet retransmissions. This is not good for speed.
Are you keeping the same speed after the tweak?

The speed actually increased, normally I could do about 6-7 MB/s, now it's 8-9 MB/s.

My download speed is around 13 mbyte/sec and has not changed with the different MTU. I am running on 9000 since a year without issues but obviously has nothing to do with the freezing of SAB

Try version 0.7.6Beta1.
It fixes a problem where sometimes the downloading part chokes the part that writes files to disk.
This resulted in a very high CPU load and excessive memory usage.
