CRC errors
I've recently installed a new ubuntu server running the 12.04 LTS. I just installed Sabnzbd and I keep getting CRC errors. I have tested the same downloads on my PC and over there I can unrar them just fine, on my server it seems to be impossible. I was running the multicore par2 version before, but i removed it and reinstalled the original par2 again to see if it made any difference but it didnt. I don't really know what could cause this problem so I hope you guys can help me out, its quite annoying. I'm running the 0.7.11 version of Sab btw.
Re: CRC errors
You should also check the version of unrar that you are running.
You should not be using any "free" unrar, but only the official one from RarLabs.
If it's not in your repo, then use this: http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm

Re: CRC errors
This is the unrar that works for me on Ubuntu:
On Ubuntu, if you install sabnzbdplus via the Ubuntu Software Center, this unrar also gets installed
Code: Select all
sander@hapee:~$ unrar | head -2
UNRAR 4.20 freeware Copyright (c) 1993-2012 Alexander Roshal
sander@hapee:~$
Re: CRC errors
It seems that im running the 4.00 version of unrar. Could someone explain how to install the newer version of unrar on ubuntu server? When I run sudo apt-get install unrar it says that there is nothing to be updated.
Re: CRC errors
4.00 is OK, AFAIK.
Do a basic test: download one of these files: http://binsearch.info/?q=bigrandomfile& ... 00&server=

Re: CRC errors
I know that the downloads are complete and im having it with about 50% of the downloads. They keep on giving me crc errors so maybe getting 4.20 solves something but I dont know how to get it.

Re: CRC errors
Yea but cant I just add it to my repositories?
Re: CRC errors
I don't think so. But I neither think there is a difference between unrar 4.0 and 4.2 that matters to SABomisys wrote:Yea but cant I just add it to my repositories?
Re: CRC errors
Well I managed to get it up to 4.2 but still it randomly happens. Sometimes when I download the Same file again it doesnt give the crc error. Could this be a RAM problem?
Re: CRC errors
You can run memtest86 from the GRUB boot menu. Keep it running for a few hours.
Re: CRC errors
I ran the memtest and it didnt return any kind of errors. Still having this issue ._. . Any idea's left?
Re: CRC errors
I would do a manual unrar (assuming it happens unrar), and post the output here
