linux version can't unrar anything.

Post by linger »

I have the linux version running on ubuntu 8.04, and for some reason it can't unrar anything I download.  It gives the error:
"E02: One or more files could not be unpacked. Skipping".

It does fine with other formats (.001, etc).  Also, the previous stable release didn't have any trouble unraring files for me if that
helps.

I installed all the packages listed in the manual also.

Did the repair complete?  Can you unrar it manually?

Yes, the repair did complete fine.  It just messes up on the unrar stage.

I don't think it's a job specific problem.  I tried 10 different downloads with no luck.  Then I switched over to windows and the same files did unrar fine.

Are you guys running it on linux and it's working fine?  Which distribution are you using?

I restarted this morning...and it works now.  Very weird.  Yesterday I got errors from sabnzbd trying to unrar, but I was able to unrar manually.

Remove Unrar 3.7.1 and use an older 3.5.1 version.

I have had the same problems with versions above 3.51.

This is what I use on Ubuntu Server 8.04 (using apt-get).

UNRAR 3.71 beta 1 freeware

No problems.

I had the same problem yesterday evening: suddenly there were 5 downloads that stayed in incomplete with no unrar applied to them.
I then switched back to 0.3.5, started it up, and strangely enough it started unraring the 5 downloads and everything was OK then.
???

This is on Ubuntu too.
